Frequently asked questions
What material do you need to master Rock?
Send the final stereo WAV at its original sample rate and bit depth, without clipping or unnecessary limiting.
What does professional mastering change?
Mastering refines tonal balance, dynamics, stereo image, loudness and playback consistency without changing the artistic intent.
Should I remove master-bus plugins?
Remove compression and limiting that only increase loudness. Keep processing that is essential to the sound and tell us why it is there.
How much headroom should the mix have?
A clean, unclipped mix is more important than a fixed number. Around -3 to -6 dBFS of peak headroom is usually practical.
Can you work with a limited or clipped mix?
We can assess it, but a clean export normally gives better control and fewer compromises.
How many revisions are included?
Mastering includes two revisions. A changed mix requires a new mastering pass and may carry an additional fee.
How long does mastering take?
Delivery normally takes between three and ten days, depending on volume and current workload.
What formats will I receive?
We deliver high-resolution WAV masters, platform-ready WAV versions and a 320 kbps MP3. DDP can be added for CD production.
Can you master alternate versions?
Yes. Instrumental, acapella, radio, extended or performance versions can use the approved mastering direction.
What if I am not sure the mix is ready?
Use our free feedback service and we will check whether mastering is the right next step.
